The cold weather has finally started to set in here in the Twin Cities. But cold weather doesn’t mean you should coop up inside! Tis’ the season to be jolly! Here are 5 of this season’s best kid-friendly holiday events happening throughout the Twin Cities metro.
Minneapolis’s Holidazzle Village
Looking for an authentic shopping experience this season? Head over to the Holidazzle village! This is one of our favorite Minneapolis holiday events that is sure to leave everyone entertained. You can shop while the kids do crafts, listen to live music, or play games. Stick around for giveaways and fireworks. And don’t forget your ice skates! This winter wonderland is fully equipped with a rink for the whole family to enjoy. Open daily from 11am to 9pm from November 28 until December 24th at Peavey Plaza.
Breakfast with Santa
Taking your picture with Santa is a right of passage for all young children. Macy’s wants to kick it up a notch, though. Head over to Macy’s in Downtown Minneapolis to have BREAKFAST with Santa! He’ll be hosting kiddos on a number of occasions, so check out the dates here. Not a morning person? No problem. Santa’s going to stick around for dinner a few nights, too.
CP Holiday Train Rolls into Minnesota
OK, we’ve already told you about this fun series of holiday events. But it’s worth mentioning again because it’s JUST THAT AWESOME! The 1,000-foot Holiday Train will be rolling into Northeast Minneapolis on December 10th from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. Head over to Lions Park on 37th Ave. to check out the impressive light display. Don’t forget to bring your hot coco! It’s cold out there!
Santa Saturdays at the Minnesota Zoo
The Minnesota Zoo is giving you and the kiddos another chance to meet Santa! A Members Only Snack with Santa is being held on weekend mornings from 8:30 to 9:30am. Tickets are just $3/person for those aged 2 and younger, and $10/person for those aged 3 and above. Not a member of the Minnesota Zoo? That’s OK! Santa is coming back for Santa Saturdays on December 10th and 17th! Climb up on his lap for some pictures between 11:30am to 1:00pm! Bring your family and camera, and get ready to snap the perfect holiday photo! Stick around for one of the many educational programs the Zoo will be hosting, as well.
Winter Light at the Arboretum
BRUCE MUNRO, Winter Light at the Arboretum, is the first large-scale light installation at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. You’ll have to head over to Chaska for this show, but it’s well worth the drive. The light show will illuminate the winter sky after dark. The five outdoor and two indoor installations are truly a wonder. This is one holiday event that will leave you awe-inspired and imagination running wild! Tickets for children under 3 are free with a paid adult, and then just $12-17 for the rest of the family.
